Fruits and vegetables that are naturally rich in sugars: Melon, Sweet Potato, Corn and Mikan
At the Japan Fruit and Vegetables Export Promotion Council, their operations focus on the exportation of Japanese fruit and vegetables and processed foods. They also gather and distribute information about the exportation process, support their registered members and work towards the increased expansion of Japanese exports.
This time we would like to focus 4 Japanese produce: 2 fruits and 2 vegetables. Sweet potato and corn are vegetables with sweet taste profile. Recently, Japanese sweet potato and corn are more accessible for purchase out of Japan. We are going to introduce recipes as well as the attractiveness of Japanese sweet potato and corn in this article.
Though cultivated in Japan, Melon is considered as one of the most prized luxury fruit while mikan is a popular fruit to be enjoyed in winter, especially together with Kotatsu (The kotatsu is a Japanese table with a built-in heater and a blanket that covers all four sides and traps the heat underneath).
